RENDEZVOUS

From the Heart of an Elohim Camper

by Kristin Baab, 15 years old, from Troy, Idaho

This summer I attended Camp Elohim, directed by Warren Edson. This camp teaches you about our Savior Jesus Christ, helps you with your leadership skills, and is also about having fun. I have attended this camp for four years, and all of those years I went to see my friends, instead of going to learn about the Lord. This year, I finally went for the right reasons and realized that I had more fun learning about Him than just going and ignoring everything they tried to teach me.

I have always claimed I was a Christian, but I never realized how important it was to actually make that commitment and walk with Him, instead of living a life of rebellion and disobedience. I have decided to recommit myself to Him and start living a good, healthy, Christian life. By doing this, I will have to give up many things, including some of my friends. I believe that I can reach out to most of my friends and tell them about the Lord, but some of them live as I did and just don’t want to hear it. I will pray that they ask the Lord to come into their lives.

I have met a lot of interesting people this year and some of them are closer to me than some of my oldest friends. The people at camp really care about what I have to say and are very eager to help and pray for me. They have all asked me to keep in touch with them and tell them how my life is going. My counselor, Rachel, told me that before she came to camp, God told her to buy a book titled He Did This Just for You because someone would need it and, sure enough, she realized that I was the one God wanted to have it. I have just started reading it and I really enjoy the book.

I really encourage everyone to attend Camp Elohim. There are different weeks for different age groups. There are many activities, such as rafting, riflery, crafts and many more. I really enjoyed my week there, and I am sure everyone else will too
