RENDEZVOUS

He Was There for Us

by Lloyd Dailey, Frenchtown

Pastor Dennis HutchisonDennis Hutchison arrived as pastor of Frenchtown Community Church 15 years ago this past Easter. Ever since then, his presence has been felt. When celebrations occurred, friends honored, new couples joined or old ones remembered, he was there. When tragedy struck, sickness prevailed, or something was in need of repair or maintenance, he was there. When our children were born, when we moved into our new house, even when I turned 40 and "went over the hill" and friends showed up to make fun of me, he was there.

Over the years we led the high school youth group and were involved in other ministries that needed encouragement, support, and prayer. He was there. We also went on several mission trips—family and friends waved goodbye and welcomed us upon our return. He was there.

When the Frenchtown Broncs football team took the field or the basketball teams were on the court, when the Little League needed a coach, and the school board needed leadership, when a speaker was needed for baccalaureate, when the highway needed cleaning, he was there every chance he had.

He’s been here for 15 years. Now the Lord is moving him on. He is taking a position as a professor in the Bible department at the Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California. I’m sure he will be there for them as well, but in the hearts of many of us he will always be here.

And a note from Dennis: "We praise our Lord for your ministry to us. ... Each one of you exhibit so freely that love which characterizes those who are truly His disciples. We will never forget all the wonderful people God brought to us here in Frenchtown."
