Familiar Faces, Different Places

by Jeff Boschmann, Lolo, Montana

You have probably all heard the phrase, "It's just like coming home." Well, that's what we have felt like over the past month. We feel like we have come home. On January 18, 2004, I was installed as the new senior pastor at Lolo Community Church.

We have spent the past 7½ years shepherding a congregation in southwestern Minnesota. Prior to that, our family lived in Drummond where I had the privilege of being pastor of the Drummond Community Church with RMBM.

My wife Miriam grew up in the Frenchtown Community Church and we lived the first two years of our marriage in Missoula. In light of that, you can probably understand how we can say we feel like we have returned home.

My own roots are in Canada—I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have been accused of being one of those terrible Canucks who come down here and steal the best American women. Of course, in my case, it meant moving south of the border and making Montana my new home.

As many of you know, I have big shoes to fill at Lolo Community Church. Gale Fister, recently named Pastor Emeritus, founded the church and led it for 47 years. I am looking forward to tapping into Gale and Assistant Pastor Don Oberg's wisdom as we settle into a new church family.

I look forward to partnering with the church in reaching our community effectively for Christ. The church's motto states, "Where the Bible is preached." I consider Bible teaching and preaching one of my strengths. I also anticipate working hand in hand with the many ministry leaders in Lolo Church as we endeavor to provide a place where people of all ages can come to worship, to fellowship and to learn together. We would covet your prayers in this transition.
