Christ Fellowship Church Finds a HomeIn the spring of 1995, twelve people met for a Bible study I led in our home. At the time I was serving as chaplain at the Montana State Prison. The purpose of the Bible study was to get to know the Bible better and to seek the Lord's leading regarding the possibility of starting a non-denominational church. Over the next several months the Bible study grew. A special meeting took place following the Bible study on the last Sunday in August of 1995. A vote was taken and the decision unanimously made to start a morning service the following Sunday. Soon after the services were started a steering committee was organized to begin work on a doctrinal statement and to seek tax-exempt status. Much work was done by a group of dedicated people. A Sunday school soon began followed by a youth fellowship, home Bible studies, and a ladies' group (known as the Sonshine Circle). We now have a ten-member board, and worship attendance runs between 40 and 50. The congregation at the church building we were renting began to decline in attendance. They voted to sell their building. We sensed the Lord leading us to purchase the building for $96,000. God has been good to us. Our prayer is that our church will be a lighthouse for Jesus and that we might play an active role in the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission. Our church is located at the corner of Fourth and Montanacome worship with us! Our morning worship service is at 9:00 a.m., and coffee and fellowship always follow. |
