How's Everything in Superior?Fun, messy and right on trackYou can't say that things don't rock at Superior Community Church. How long has it been since you have mixed it up with 15 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders? One evening's all-night activities included games, relays, ping pong, foosball, bumper pool, and an ice cream eating contest, pictured here. A smorgasbord of goodies was also a big part of the things they enjoyed—pizza, chips, barbecued little smokies, banana cream pie, Kool-aid, and pop. In the course of the evening the kids were involved in skits portraying different character traits. Need an example? “Kindness.” The kids were given the word and asked, “Kindness—what does it look like?” The leaders then used the skits to instruct the kids on what God's Word teaches about kindness. Three devotionals were shared during the evening. The first one brought out how to check our attitudes. Finding a penny encouraged the kids to remember to check their attitudes and count their blessings. The second devotional asked the question, “Who is the most neglected one at Christmas?” We remember the shepherds, the wise men, the virgin Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child, but God the Father is seldom discussed. During the third devotional, leaders spoke to the kids about how special they are to God. He made each one of them special, creating them in His image. We can only understand how special we are when we know the God who loves us and created us in His image. Not too many people had sleep this night! A bang-up breakfast sent them home to crash in their own beds. Have you prayed for the youth of your church this week? And their leaders? Do they need your financial support? Your hands can touch your world. Pray. |
