A note from Pastor Ed Pomelear The prophet Isaiah saw the Lord "high and lifted up." I share with other pastors the view that the Christian church needs a fresh and overwhelming vision of Almighty God. I sincerely believe it could cure the apathy seen in some churches today. There is a preoccupation with programs, things, and building maintenance rather than a preoccupation with building up our relationship with God, evidenced by obedience to His will, His ways, His Holy Spirit. A right and proper perspective on God gives us a right and proper perspective on everything else -- life, work, money, service, relationship, and so on. Outside of the Revelation of Jesus Christ as given to John, there is no greater vision of Almighty God and His glory than we find in the sixth chapter of Isaiah. He came face to face with the living God and something happened: his whole life transformed. That is what we are looking for at Christ's Bible Church: an accurate, sustaining vision of God, His will, His Spirit, His Son, all to the glory of God alone. As we lift Him up through our worship, our relationships with one another, and our efforts toward missions, evangelism and discipleship, we can expect to be lifted up within our spirits. The reason our problems overwhelm us so often is our focus. We gaze on the things of this temporal world rather than fixing our gaze upon eternity. What is it that occupies the center of your focus today? Remember, the smallest of things when held close to the eye can block out the sun, or is it "block out the Son?" I invite you to join us as we lay hold of the truth. Life works infinitely better when we know how to quickly glance at things but focus on God. When we see Him clearly, we will see everything else clearly and with the right perspective. Pressing on,
Ed Pomelear A prayer: O Lord, give us a fresh and exciting vision of Yourself. May your love motivate us as we prayerfully and boldly go forward in your will. In and through the precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen. |
