The Storm and the Light

  • Emeritus Professor of New Testament

    Dr. Carson came to Trinity from the faculty of Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he served for two years as academic dean. He also taught at Northwest Baptist Theological College, Richmond College, and Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto. He has served as assistant pastor and pastor and has done itinerant ministry in Canada and the United Kingdom. Additionally, he is the president of The Gospel Coalition.

    Dr. Carson is an active guest lecturer in academic and church settings around the world.  He and his wife, Joy, reside in Libertyville, Illinois. They have two children. In his spare time, Dr. Carson enjoys reading, hiking, and woodworking.

  • Originally from Minnesota, Jenni earned her BA in Biblical Studies with a Biblical Counseling Emphasis at Montana Bible College, Bozeman in 2012, and is certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.  She is currently pursing a Master of Divinity at Sioux Falls Seminary. Jenni serves Montana Bible College in administrative roles.  With her experience and training, Jenni has developed the simple acronym of S.A.V.E. to help us remember the basics of suicide prevention and also will briefly address dealing with the aftermath of attempted or completed suicide.


  • Brian was appointed as the CEO of Peacemaker Ministries in 2017 and moved the headquarters of Peacemaker Ministries to Spokane Valley, Washington, where he and a creative staff are developing new resources for churches, marriages, and the workplace.  He has written a Path of a Peacemaker book, which will be published in 2019.  Brian loves to teach, and travels around the country presenting The Path of a Peacemaker in a wide variety of settings.


  • Dr. Horton holds a B.A. in Biology from Dickinson State College, a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, as well as a Masters of Divinity from Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL.  He practiced veterinary medicine in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley for 20 years.  During the last five of those, he answered God’s call to church leadership and established two churches in the Valley.  He served Crossroads Christian Fellowship of Victor, MT for 20 years as senior pastor.  Dr. Horton began as full-time director of the Institute of Biblical Authority in the spring of 2018.  He has a passion to see God’s Word correctly understood and is convinced that as people begin to grasp the intended meaning of scripture, they gain a solid foundation to navigate this difficult life.
